See the Cranksgiving NJ Facebook page. Here's how it works: Riders do the route (10 or 20 miles, but I'm gonna do the 20). It goes from store to store, and at each location, riders buy a food item and throw it in a bag or knapsack (although last year they had volunteers taking the stuff to their cars as we left the stores). It's probably about $20-30 in groceries overall. At the end, give 'em the groceries you've been carrying and bask in the warmth of compassion for your fellows and the righteousness of doing something good.
So you can join me at the start for just the Cranksgiving ride at 11.
OR... Let's do a few extra miles. We'll leave the Village Park in Cranbury at 10, ride to the Cranksgiving start at a C+ish pace (about seven miles. No drops; this is a charity ride!). We'll pick up anybody who's just doing the Cranksgiving 20, and ride around to all the stores in polite chaos. Then, after receiving the gratitude of the organizers (and whatever swag they might be giving away; there was a nifty neck gaiter last time), we'll ride back to Cranbury.
Check this and the Princeton Freewheeler page for weather cancellation and whatnot. You in?
Edit Nov 9: Yeah, it's gonna be cold. I'm still goin'.
Sounds like a blast! Sorry to miss it, Jim, but something else is already on the calendar. Next year!
