Both Tom and Laura have already written about the ride we did across Delaware, from Delaware City to the Chesapeake and back. For reasons that have nothing to do with the ride, I haven't been up to posting about it. I decided to put in a few of the pictures and some description, and leave it at that.
First of all, yes, we were definitely in Delaware:
The usual parking-lot pictures:
The waterfront has been built up as a destination, with touristy shops, and historical info about the Civil War fort and prisoner-of-war camp there. Laura went down to get pictures of ships passing, and I went to get a couple of pictures as well.
As flat as Delaware is, Tom found a way to get some climb into this ride. We came over that bridge on the left in that picture below.
WE crossed out of Delaware and into Maryland, and stopped to see the Chesapeake at this Marina.
I was quite taken with this sailboat at the end of October:
We had to get to the other side of the canal. Below, the bridge we DIDN'T cross:
Under that bridge, though, was another cute, touristy town. The expected bakery was no longer there, but there was a little ice-cream shop.
We came back along a ship canal that's still in use. The canal path has been paved and was busier than the pictures indicate.
