It was agreed among Tom H's Insane Bike Posse that I wouldn't join 'em today out of COVID-19 concerns, so to assuage my disappointment, I did a solo ride.
39 miles, over 1500' of climb (including Dutchtown-Zion and sections of Hollow, Long Hill, and Spring Hill Roads), average 15.4. Top speed only 31, because I'm a terrible descender.
Pretty fly, for an old, retired guy.
I can't do it all the time (and I wouldn't want to; I like riding with my friends, when I can), but it's nice to know I still can sometimes.
(The quote is from Kipling: "Down to Gehenna, or up to the Throne/ He travels the fastest who travels alone." Kipling was a racist, sexist asshole, but a pretty good wordsmith nonetheless.)
